CREATE and GIFT, as part of the One Love theme camp, provided watercolor postcards, international postage stamps, and art supplies for burners to create art and gift it to someone around the world. Korea Burn is an extension of Burning Man, a festival based on self reliance, self expression, and gifting - the exact principles that C&G encompasses. Most artists brought their postcards home to write out, but a handful were left with us to ship for them. Here is a sample of some of the talented works created that weekend.
CREATE and GIFT was proud to host another interactive art booth at the Gwangju Freecycle clothing swap event. Gwangju Freecycle aims to promote a gifting community and to reduce waste through reuse. In the spirit of gifting, CREATE and GIFT gave free art and allowed participants to gift their own creations. Following the event was a GIC Talk about Enhancing Community through Gifting that can be watched below. CREATE and GIFT's talk begins at 21:46. ![]() The Gwangju International Center invited CREATE and GIFT to provide an art booth for Gwangju residents attending its event, Adios Day. The GIC is relocating, so they wanted to celebrate the last few days of the cherished building that served as a home to the GIC for many years. A flea market, live music, and pot luck were some of the other booths enjoyed at the event. Even though the booth was smaller than the one at GIC Day, there was the same amount of participation. In the spirit of Christmas, several artists opted to gift their holiday-themed art that day. Once again, Gwangju impressed everybody with their impressive art. All donated proceeds benefited the GIC Moving Fund. ![]() The Gwangju International Center (GIC) provides numerous services for international residents of Gwangju. It is an invaluable organization that brings the international community together. One big annual event is the Gwangju International Community Day. With booths representing dozens of countries, residents can get a taste of the world through food, performances, and cultural activities. CREATE and GIFT was honored to hold an interactive booth at the event. CREATE and GIFT brought the art supplies (e.g., paper, markers, watercolors, pastels). Gwangju residents brought the ideas. The bustling event brought faces from around the world, both young and old, to the booth to create and receive art. The display of available pieces changed every few minutes as people rushed in and out, leaving a new piece and taking one home. "I can't paint" was heard a countless number of times, but people still created something and sometimes even surprised themselves.

“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”
- Andy Warhol |
